Join guest lecturer Jim Muller for a series of lively presentations and countless informal discussions on:

You may also want to join some of the lectures provided by tutors on board from Oxford University through the Cunard ConneXions program. Discover the spa, stroll the deck, or relax in the library. Monday, September 10: Southampton and London
Arrive in Southampton, homeport of many renowned ocean liners. Drive north to London and enjoy lunch. Visit the Cabinet War Rooms, the pristinely preserved underground rooms from where Churchill, the Cabinet, the War Cabinet, and the Intelligence Services ran the war during the Blitz. Then tour the Churchill Museum in the company of a curator to examine Churchill�¢??s life, work, and achievements, also within the premises of the wartime headquarters. Opened in 2005, this is the first national museum dedicated to the prime minister and focuses on both the private and public man. Join Celia Sandys, granddaughter of Winston Churchill, at his country house at Chartwell, where she�¢??ll share her personal reminiscences about her grandfather. The rooms are decorated exactly as they were in the statesman's lifetime, with personal belongings reflecting his interests and career. In the terraced garden, see the lakes created by Churchill, the water garden where he fondly fed the fish, and the renowned brick wall that he built amid much publicity! In the studio, admire Churchill�¢??s paintings reflecting his favorite pastimes. Enjoy lunch in a country pub before returning to London. (B,L)
Wednesday, September 12: Blenheim, Woodstock, and Bladon
Lord Charles Spencer-Churchill, son of the 10th Duke of Marlborough, greets us at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire. The family seat of the Churchills, it was designed for the first Duke of Marlborough, by architect Sir John Vanbrugh in the early 18th-century and is considered one of England�¢??s great treasure houses. See the room where Winston Churchill was born and visit an exhibit on the prime minister�¢??s life. Enjoy lunch at the 17th-century Feathers Hotel in Woodstock, and pay your respects at Churchill�¢??s grave in nearby Bladon before returning to London. Gather for a reception and gala farewell dinner at the famed Savoy Hotel, where Churchill often dined when in London. (B,L,R,D)
