Literary Tour Summary Literary Tour Intinerary Request information about this tour About the tour company

Throughout American history, few have held such great sway over the fate of our country--and over our imaginations--as Founding Father Thomas Jefferson.

Discover Charlottesville, the town Jefferson built, with this guided tour from Classical Pursuits. Through a closer look at his writings, this trip will explore the many contradictions in Jefferson's life, including his seemingly contradictory relationship to human bondage. This tour will take you through Jefferson's home, Monticello, and the University of Virginia, which the former president considered his greatest work.

Discussion Leader(s):
Rosemary Gould has lived in Charlottesville for more than 20 years. She leads literature discussions for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and others. She is very excited about the prospect of sharing the riches of this little town she loves (not to mention its fascinating founder) with the delightful participants of Classical Pursuits.
