This house is the birthplace of celebrated writer Robert Penn Warren (1905 �¢?? 1989), distinguished as the only person to receive the Pulitzer for both fiction (All the King�¢??s Men) and poetry (Promises: Poems, and Now and Then). Warren was also the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship, and was named the first U.S. Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry in 1986. All the King's Men, starring Broderick Crawford, won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1949, and in 2006 writer/director Steven Zaillian produced a remake, which featured Sean Penn as Willie Stark and Jude Law as Jack Burden.
Although Warren only lived here briefly. a collection of artifacts pertaining to the author�¢??s life in on display, including photographs, rare first editions and signed copies of Warren�¢??s books and his childhood possessions.
