American poet Robert Frost (1874 - 1963) is distinguished as the only poet to win the Pulitzer Prize four times.  His work was extremely popular during his lifetime, and Frost continues to be a favorite, with such quintessentially American classics to his credit as ?¢??Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening,?¢?? ?¢??Mending Wall,?¢?? and ?¢??The Road Not Taken.?¢??   Frost drew much of his inspiration from the rural landscape of New England, which he used to explore a variety of social and philosophical concepts.

Frost lived in this home in Derry, New Hampshire, from 1900 to 1911.  The two-storey clapboard house, built in 1884, is typical of its period.  The house still contains some of Frost?¢??s personal belongings, including a set of dishes and several paintings by Frost?¢??s sister-in-law.  Those furnishings that are not original to the house were selected by Frost?¢??s daughter, Lesley Frost Ballantine, with an eye toward restoring the house as much as possible to its appearance during Frost?¢??s occupancy.

Frost purchased this home in 1915, upon returning from a lengthy stay in England.  Today, the home is both a museum dedicated to Frost, and a nonprofit educational center for poetry and the arts.  The house was built in the 1860s, and is now home to a collection of signed first editions of Frost?¢??s poetry and other memorabilia.  The grounds include a half-mile nature trail with plaques inscribed with poems Frost composed during his stay in Franconia  The Frost Place fulfils an educational mission by hosting conferences for contemporary poets, as well as school programs.  Each summer an emerging poet is awarded a fellowship to live and write in Frost?¢??s home during July and August

Willa Cather Grave
Old Burying Ground
Jaffrey Center, NH

There is no official website, email or phone.

Willa Cather took summer vacations in Jaffery. The interesting feature of her grave is it faces away from the other graves, giving an air of snubbing her ?¢??neighbors.?¢??  The beautiful cemetery serves as a pleasant nature outing.
